Cultivating Calm: Embracing the Everyday at my Favorite Cafe

Setting aside this time for some of my “everyday habits” is the most reliable way to incorporate calm into my day

Mornings at my local cafe in The Eixample district Barcelona, I grab a table I like by the window. Although in Summer it’s hot and humid, it’s also bright and I can be lucky if there’s a cool breeze coming through the door on my right. Sometimes I read, journal or I can use this time to practise resilience if I have encountered any kind of setback or disappointment. So I set out by investing in a new goal. The friendly guy behind the counter recommended I try ginseng as he listens to me grumble how coffee is disrupting my sleep. Setting aside this time for some of my “everyday habits” is the most reliable way to incorporate calm into my day. It evolves over time depending on my priorities, i may choose to take care of my body by exercising, or time to connect with people. But as long as I have my go-to everyday habits it will make me happier.
